TRANSPAC 2009

The Transpac 2009 was one of the most incredible event to see. It is a race that takes place ever 2 years that goes from Long Beach to Hawaii. There were three different classes of Sailboat with the first class leaving on Monday June 29th, the second class leaving on Thursday July 2nd and the last class which was also the fastest class leaving on Sunday July 5th. This race can take anywhere from 7 to 15 days and this year the Alfa Romero set a new record and finished in 5 days. There were a few member and friends that went out to watch the start of this race which was amazing.
Rumor has it that in 2011 there might just be a few of our own participating.

CUBA CUP RACES

WAHOO!!!! The summer racing series at Pacific Sailing is about to begin.

The first race is Wednesday May 6th, and they will be every other Wednesday through August 26th. Mark your calendar for a chance to participate in all of the fun.

Race sign ups start at 5:00 PM in the Yacht Club. Captains & crews will be assigned at 6:00 PM. Sailors and non sailors are equally welcome to join us.

No offense to our Captains that have participated over the years, but it would be nice to see some new names in the mix. If you can’t make all of the races team up with someone who can cover the days that you can’t make it. Make sure that it is someone that you like because when both of you are there you will be on the same boat. Come on Larry Palmer, Jamie Royer, Ted Lavino (you all know Ted, right?). How about the first husband and wife team in Cuba Cup history….Roneale & Robert Branning or Jack & Carolin Lusby?

FUN is had by, hope everyone can join us.

Dave said that he really wanted to win this year and was really glad that Dave Lyon wasn't racing so he'd have a chance to win.. Second place boat was Black Pearl Christian was the Captain and the third place boat was Sea Roy and Greg was the Captain. But no matter where you finish a good time is had by all..

The Committee Boat Crew

If you're not up for going out with one of the race teams, it's always fun to go out on the committee boat.. Video taping by Jim is being done ( except this week the camara man was Mike Nelson) pictures for the blog are being taking by Patti Appell (Dave's girlfriend) and Dave is keeping record of all times and shouting out instructions sometimes to those he feels needs it.. He does miss being out there as one of the captains.. but a good time is had by all of us that do go out on the committee boat and we get to see the race up close...

During the race....

Crotch Reilly Regatta - Before the Race

Yesterday for the winter 6 pack sailing races it was the annual Crotch Reilly Regatta.
Dave Lyon has won this the past two years in a row, so needless to say some of the
Captains were glad to know that he would not be competing this year. Dave said it was
time to have a new winner....
